ImOK Privacy Policy

ImOK is designed with privacy as a core principle. Your personal data stays on your device. We do not have access to your check-in history, contacts, medical information, or location data.

Our Privacy Commitment

ImOK was built for people who value their privacy. We believe safety apps shouldn't require you to sacrifice your personal information to a company's servers. Here's how we protect you:

  • No user accounts required - You don't need to create an account or provide an email address to use ImOK
  • No cloud storage - Your settings, contacts, medical info, and check-in history are stored only on your device
  • No tracking or analytics - We don't track how you use the app or collect usage statistics
  • No data sales - We never sell or share user data because we don't collect it

Data Stored on Your Device

The following information is stored locally on your iPhone and/or Apple Watch:

  • Your check-in schedule preferences
  • Emergency contact names, phone numbers, and email addresses
  • Optional medical information (blood type, allergies, medications, conditions)
  • Check-in history
  • Your device's push notification token (for receiving notifications)

This data is stored using Apple's secure Keychain and encrypted device storage. It is never transmitted to Lumena Productions.

Data Transmitted During Alerts

When an emergency alert is triggered (missed check-in, manual SOS, or abnormal heart rate), the following information may be sent to our notification server:

  • Your device's anonymous identifier (to route notifications)
  • Alert type (missed check-in, SOS, or health alert)
  • Your current location (only if you've enabled location sharing)
  • Medical information (only if you've chosen to include it in alerts)

This information is transmitted securely via HTTPS and is used solely to deliver notifications to your emergency contacts. It is not stored on our servers beyond the time needed to deliver the alert.

Emergency Contact Notifications

Your emergency contacts may receive alerts through:

  • Push notifications - If they also have ImOK installed
  • SMS text messages - If they don't have ImOK (sent via Twilio)
  • Email - As an additional notification method

Contact information is stored only on your device and is transmitted to our server only when sending an alert.

Location Data

ImOK only accesses your location when:

  • An emergency alert is triggered AND you have location sharing enabled
  • You manually trigger an SOS alert

Location data is never collected during normal app usage or check-ins. When shared during an alert, your location is sent directly to your emergency contacts and is not stored by Lumena Productions.

Health Data

If you use an Apple Watch with ImOK, the app may access heart rate data from HealthKit to detect abnormal readings. This data:

  • Is processed entirely on your device
  • Is never transmitted to our servers
  • Is used only to trigger alerts if readings fall outside your defined safe range

Third-Party Services

ImOK uses the following third-party services to deliver notifications:

  • Apple Push Notification service (APNs) - For push notifications to iOS devices
  • Twilio - For SMS delivery to contacts without ImOK
  • IONOS SMTP - For email notifications

These services receive only the minimum information necessary to deliver notifications.

Data Retention

Since we don't collect personal data, there's nothing to retain. Alert delivery logs on our server (containing only anonymous device identifiers and timestamps) are automatically deleted after 30 days.

Your Rights

Because your data stays on your device, you have complete control:

  • Access - View all your data directly in the app
  • Modify - Change any settings or information at any time
  • Delete - Use the "Reset All Data" option in Settings to erase everything
  • Export - Your data is yours; it never leaves your device unless you trigger an alert

Children's Privacy

ImOK is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated through the app or our website.
